What we collect

• Your email address, when you type it into the subscribe form. That is the only personal information the site asks for.
• Email activity. The service that sends the newsletter (beehiiv) records whether an issue was opened and which links were clicked, the way almost every newsletter service does. We use that only to see which items readers find useful.
• Anonymous page statistics. The site uses Vercel Web Analytics, which counts page views and a few events (a subscribe, a click through to a government document) without cookies and without an identifier that could single you out. Vercel’s own description: no personal identifiers are collected, visitors are represented by a hash that is discarded after 24 hours, and only aggregated data is available to us.
• Abuse protection. When the subscribe form is submitted, the site keeps a salted hash of the submitting network address for up to one day so that a script cannot flood the list. The address itself is not stored.

We do not run advertising trackers, we do not buy or sell lists, and we do not set cookies on this site. That is why there is no cookie banner: there is nothing to consent to.

Where it lives

• The subscriber list is stored in a database hosted by Neon on Vercel’s infrastructure in the United States.
• A copy of each address is held by beehiiv, which sends the issues, also in the United States.
• The site itself runs on Vercel. Standard server logs (request path, time, network address) are kept briefly by Vercel to run the service.

How it is used

To send you the newsletter you asked for, to send a welcome email when you subscribe, to count how many people read a given change, and to keep the list free of bots. Nothing else. If a sponsor ever appears in an issue, they get a placement, not your address.

Leaving and deleting

• Every issue carries a one-click unsubscribe link, and there is an unsubscribe page here.
• To have your address deleted from both systems rather than just marked unsubscribed, reply to any issue or write to the address below. We do it by hand within a week.

Who we are

Seller Rules is written by Sam, an independent operator, under a pen name. It is an information service, not a law firm and not a government body. Contact: sam@sellerrules.com. The postal address for the publication appears in the footer of every email, as United States law requires.

The newsletter is written for businesses. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly keep an address belonging to anyone under 16; write to us and it will be removed.

If this page changes in a way that matters, the date at the top changes and the next issue says so. See also the terms of use.
